Listening to bits and pieces of the Facebook Developers Garage SXSW. Sadly I was not able to be there, but I was able to listen in through UStream. I will write comments about it later on.. so come back to this post and I’ll update it as I see it all.
Here are some short stories:
GoWalla goes social
One funny story from GoWalla was that they are trying to make their check in into a more social event. One thing they tried out was sitting outside an airport waiting for people to check in as they landed. They then asked a person if he or she wanted a ride when they got out of security. The first two people answered yes without really needing a ride, just wanting to know if it worked. Then there was this woman who they actually got to drive somewhere :).
Neat feature for though and a hint on where those services (now patented by Google) will turn out to be.
Seesmic Look’s good
Yes, I did put the apostrophe in the correct place. More on this later. Seesmic is rockin and so they deserve their own post.
Online Games – Sebastian from playfish.com
Create your app off facebook. Launch it on Facebook, then launch them on other platforms using Facebook as your social hub through which the players can connect to each other.
Export actions that you feel strongly about, that you like, such as replays. You can post them on external “youtube-alike” platforms and then post them on Facebook.
No top ten applications on the iPhone are social. Many are Games. Challenge coming up. 🙂
Pop Caps takeaways
Real ID is accelerating social gaming. Knowing who you play against seems to actually increase the popularity in social gaming online.
more to come… need to watch this once again 🙂
